Chicken & Waffles in NYC

June 30, 2008

Last week I took Faith to mid-town Manhattan to share one of mine plus NYC’s best kept secrets. I wanted Faith to taste their Chicken & Waffles on a weekend lunch date with her Dad.
Where I mean is, a discreet lil spot located
at 630 9th Ave the corner of 45th St. called “Piece of Chicken”.

Their menu includes the finest in basic Soul Food ranging from Fried Catfish, Mac & Cheese, Candied Yams, and Corn Muffins amongst others. But the hit with me is their Chicken & Waffles for only $3 bucks, your choice of chicken part, and additional pieces of chicken are only $1 ($1 for 2 wings).

The waffles seems to have cornmeal in them, lending to a real delicious home-style taste. Piece of Chicken is sooooo low key, with huuuuuge offerings at a budget (God knows, we need it in NYC)
This window served eatery does not accommodate seating so we enjoyed our lunch at a local park.
This is for parents of Tweens, who are in the Times Square area, spending some quality time together and want a bite to eat on a budget, you can’t go wrong here.

When you get there, tell them that Tween Grrl sent you and order a stack of waffles and some chicken for us too!
